About Wheaton Wrestling Club

Our Story

Wheaton Wrestling club started in 2023 with the combination of the Little Falcons and Wheaton Tiger Wrestling clubs.

Focus

The Wheaton Wrestling club is dedicated to preparing young athletes for competition. Particular attention is given to proper technique and conditioning, in addition to offering the opportunity to compete in tournaments throughout the season.

Facilities

Practices are held at Wheaton North and Wheaton Warrenville South throughout the season.

Coaches

Wheaton Wrestling coaches are rostered with the IKWF. This process includes earning Copper certification,  yearly safe sport training, and a background check every other year.

Communication

The Wheaton Wrestling club uses the game changer app and email to communicate to the club.

Practices

Gear Needed

Wrestlers will need wrestling shoes, a headgear, and to wear shorts and a t-shirt to practice. A water bottle is also encouraged but fountains are easily accessible.

Intensity

Wrestling is considered the worlds hardest sport for a reason. Practices are at a high intensity and designed to get wrestlers ready to compete at tournaments.  Wrestlers should show up 10 minutes before practice to get their shoes on so they are ready to start the warm up.

Tournaments

Tournaments are held on Sundays at schools in the surrounding area. We schedule tournaments within a 45 minute drive from the Wheaton area. Our tournament schedule can be found under the Calendar tab.

What to Expect

Wrestlers are weighed in and organized into brackets with other wrestlers their weight and age. Tournaments have become more popular in a split session where some divisions wrestle in the morning and the other divisions wrestle in the afternoon. Tournaments are an additional cost paid to the hosting team and cost $25-$35.

Age Divisions

Tot - 4-6 years old

Bantam - 7-8 years old

Intermediate - 9-10 years old

Novice - 11-12 years old

Senior - 12-13 years old

Bantam through Senior divisions are able to wrestle in the state series and qualify for the state tournament in March.
