Wheaton Wrestling club started in 2023 with the combination of the Little Falcons and Wheaton Tiger Wrestling clubs.
The Wheaton Wrestling club is dedicated to preparing young athletes for competition. Particular attention is given to proper technique and conditioning, in addition to offering the opportunity to compete in tournaments throughout the season.
Practices are held at Wheaton North, Wheaton Warrenville South, and Monroe Middle school throughout the season.
Wheaton Wrestling coaches are rostered with the IKWF. This process includes earning Copper certification, yearly safe sport training, and a background check every other year.
The Wheaton Wrestling club uses the game changer app and email to communicate to the club.
Practices are divided into two levels depending on experience and age. The club level is for all wrestlers ages 5-14. The elite level is by coach invite and for more experienced wrestlers. South Side wrestlers will practice at Wheaton Warrenville South and North Side wrestlers will practice at Wheaton North
Monday - North Side Wrestlers will practice at Wheaton North 6:30 - 7:45, South Side Wrestlers will practice at Wheaton Warrenville South 6:00 - 7:15
Tuesday - Beginners (1st-3rd year) Practice at Wheaton Warrenville South 6:00 - 7:00
Wednesday - Elite Practice 6:00 - 7:15
Thursday- Tournament Wrestlers combined practice at Wheaton North 6:30 - 7:45
Wrestlers will need wrestling shoes, a headgear, and to wear shorts and a t-shirt to practice. A water bottle is also encouraged but fountains are easily accessible.
Wrestling is considered the worlds hardest sport for a reason. Practices are at a high intensity and designed to get wrestlers ready to compete at tournaments. Wrestlers should show up 1 0minutes before practice to get their shoes on so they are ready to start the warm up.
Tournaments are held on Sundays at schools in the surrounding area. We schedule tournaments within a 45 minute drive from the Wheaton area. Our tournament schedule can be found under the Calendar tab.
Wrestlers are weighed in and organized into brackets with other wrestlers their weight and age. Tournaments have become more popular in a split session where some divisions wrestle in the morning and the other divisions wrestle in the afternoon.
